Smith Sand & Gravel, Inc., is a family-owned sand and gravel mining operation located just outside of Syracuse, NY. In 1951, Donald J. Smith, "DJ" or the "Michigan Man" as many knew him, set up his sand and gravel mining business in which he served many local companies ranging from farmers, home builders and construction companies to landscapers and homeowners. Over the past several decades, the nature of the family business has been continued by his sons and continues to grow today! In 1978, Don's eldest son, Dave, began his own business, DJ Smith Trucking, and specialized in excavation and hauling. As his business began shifting towards more mining and less excavation, he formed Smith Sand & Gravel, Inc.

Today we produce numerous varieties of sand, gravel and topsoil. Whether you're in the market for crushed stone, horse arena sand, baseball diamond mix or even planting mix we can help! All products are available for local delivery in any quantity!
